LCF official launch party and fundraiser
On 18 November 2017, we threw our official launch party and first fundraiser cocktail party and art exhibition. In partnership with artist Jenny Paton and Blondes Garage Studio in Windsor, the event was a roaring success.
The event kicked off at 7pm and the venue was packed to the rafters within a matter of minutes.
In the same way that it truly takes a village to raise a child, it takes a village to remember a child gone too soon and in particular a party of revellers gathered in memory of our baby girl to honour her in the way she deserved. With all proceeds of the night going to the LCF fund we couldn’t have done this event without help from our friends and local businesses who provided advice and assistance along the way.
This included canapés by generous donors including Rhubarb Catering from Tasmania, Saigon Street Eats in Carlisle Street and Ken Mellers. The stunning art work by Jenny of which 10% of each painting was donated to LCF, and one painting was auctioned off with all proceeds going to the charity. Jenny and her daughter Courtney, the owner of Blondes Garage went above and beyond to ensure the event was a success. Our auctioneer Brett Phelan of Buxton real estate showed of his considerable talent at creating a bidding frenzy. And of course we couldn’t have done it without all our dear family and friends who pitched in to make sure the night was a success. We love throwing a party but there is no way we could have pulled this off without all of you.
The goal of the night was to push us toward a $20,000 bank balance which will take us out of a ‘gumnut’ (starter) fund with the Australian Communities Foundation and into a fully fledged fund of which our money can be invested and continue to grow as well as allowing us to make grants to paediatric palliative care providers. We smashed expectations and raised a total of $13,000 bringing our fund over the $20,000. Which is so exciting as it means that very soon we will be able to make our first grant of funding.
Sending out all our thanks and love to those who attended and made the night a success.
